While reading an Associated Press article published on February 14, 2018 interviewing Maestro Riccardo MUTI, the following two statements concerning Conductors arrested my attention:
Take-Aways
1) Quoting Maestro Arturo TOSCANINI:
“As (Arturo) TOSCANINI said, ‘every donkey can beat time, but to make music, it’s another thing…’”

2) Maestro MUTI’s personal opinion on the necessary component of a Conductor:
“With few exceptions, MUTI thinks young conductors fail to study a string instrument or piano sufficiently.”
